  • Acceptance into a Master of Science program at an accredited University.
  • Work as an Associate Wildlife Biologist in the Coordinated Management, Monitoring, and Research Program for Mexican spotted owls.
CURRENT RESEARCH PROJECTS
  • Effects of various forest thinning treatments on plants, small mammals, and Mexican spotted owls in the Sacramento Mountains of southern New Mexico.
  • Monitor Mexican spotted owl demography in the Sacramento Mountains of southern New Mexico.
  • Radio telemetry of Mexican spotted owls in the Sacramento Mountains.
ANTICIPATED OUTCOME OF CURRENT EFFORTS
  • Development of guidelines that land managers can use to maintain or possibly even improve spotted owl habitat while at the same time reducing the risk of catastrophic wildfire.
  • More clearly define what types of habitat Mexican spotted owls use during the non-breeding season.
